Indian Textile Ministry wants to allocate natural gas to man-made fiber manufacturing

For the first time, the Indian Ministry of Textiles made recommendations to distribute natural gas to man-made fiber manufacturing and processing companies, with the same amount of credit allocated to power companies. The proposal of the Ministry of Textiles was submitted to the Ministry of Oil and Gas for discussion in the form of a draft of the National Fiber Policy cabinet.

Textile Ministry officials said that if this proposal is passed, the technology and integrated textile manufacturing petrochemical companies will get a major boost.

The Ministry of Textiles has assigned priority to the development of technical textiles, and also set up a technical task force to promote the development of traditional fibers such as cotton and jute.

Natural gas containing C2/C3 (carbon chemical variants) is a raw material for the petrochemical industry. The Ministry of Oil and Gas is adjusting natural gas distribution and natural gas prices.

Technical textiles stand out for their technical performance. They differ from other man-made or synthetic fibers in that they enhance the high toughness and high resistance of fibers. Polyester, viscose, nylon and polypropylene accounted for 70% of the total fiber used in all technical textiles, and upgraded special fibers accounted for 30%. Most of these materials are used in flame-retardant fabrics for exhibition centers, cinemas and other public halls, firefighters' clothing, geotechnical-synthetic insulating materials for infrastructure projects, disposable medical supplies, and protective clothing such as jackets.
