Happy Monday, and I hope you're having a fantastic start to the week! This past weekend was lovely, and I'm really excited about everything coming up this week. My birthday is on Wednesday, and Valentine's Day is right around the corner on Saturday. Since next week is mid-winter break for the public schools in New York, we'll be celebrating S's birthday at her school on Friday with some cupcakes. Her birthday always falls during mid-winter break—she’s such a lucky girl! Meanwhile, at the studio, we're prepping for a couple of photo shoots and getting all the spring patterns ready to send off to the printer. I've been busy proofreading and making those last-minute tweaks to ensure everything looks perfect.
Here's the second installment of our new series, "How I Wear It." With the weather being so cold and snowy, we decided to shoot this inside the studio, specifically in the stairwell. I hope this series inspires you to explore new ways to mix and match your wardrobe and sewing projects!

Let me tell you about this outfit. When we first introduced the Bento Tee, I made a few versions to test the fit in different fabrics. The quilted jersey from B&J Fabrics became one of my favorites, and I've been rocking both the black and cream versions ever since. A few weeks back, I decided the cream top needed some zippers in the side seams. Out came the seam ripper, and it turned out to be an easy addition. I opened the side seams to the length of the zipper, hand-basted it, and then stitched it in place. To keep the fabric from stretching too much, I always add a strip of interfacing along the edges before basting.
The rest of the outfit is simple yet comfortable: my reliable cashmere scarf, two pairs of black tights—one wool for texture and the other for extra warmth—and my go-to black booties. I paired it with a pencil skirt in a bold geometric print. It’s a cozy ensemble, perfect for bustling around the city, which is exactly what I was doing when I wore it.
As for accessories, I think these glasses have almost become my signature look since I don’t wear contacts as much anymore. I lean heavily on a few key pieces: my trusty booties, a big men’s watch, and a necklace that belonged to my grandma—it holds a special place in my heart. I plan to share more about that soon. But I’ve realized that I prefer to keep my outfits simple and let the accessories take center stage.
I’ve also been working on a few personal projects lately. There’s something incredibly satisfying about creating something with your own hands, whether it’s sewing or crafting. It’s a nice way to unwind after a long day.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this peek into my wardrobe and styling tips. Let me know if you have any questions or if there’s anything specific you’d like to see in future posts!
Stay warm, stay stylish, and enjoy the week ahead!
