EU's attention to my textile and clothing has not diminished

From January to May, textile exports from Quanzhou City totaled US$2.26 billion, up by 40.9%, accounting for 24.5% of Fujian’s textile exports over the same period, and an increase of about 6 percentage points over the province’s textile exports.

From the export market point of view, it is mainly exported to ASEAN, EU, Africa and Latin America. Among them, ASEAN’s exports to the United States were US$560 million, up 86.5%, the EU’s US$480 million, up 36.1%, Africa’s US$240 million, up 25.7%, and Latin America’s US$230 million, down 5.2%. General trade dominates, with private enterprises exporting nearly 60%, and exporting 1.35 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 65.6%. In the month of May, a total of 520 million U.S. dollars was exported, a year-on-year increase of 25.3%.

“Although the export situation is improving, we should also be alert to the recent export of textile products.” Customs reminded that the EU recalled a new record for China textiles. From January to April, the European Union's RAPEX system issued a recall notification to China's textile and apparel products, which was an increase of 1.27% over the same period of last year. And the proportion of textile apparel in all of China's circular products reached a record high in nearly six years. It can be seen that the EU's attention to China's textile and clothing has not decreased, but this trend should cause the attention of the majority of export enterprises in Quanzhou.

In addition, the EU's new version of "Eco-Textiles Standard 100" has recently been officially implemented. Compared with last year's version, the new eco-textiles standard has added a number of new testing items to the categories of hazardous substances. Quanzhou Customs recommends that enterprises actively improve their production processes in accordance with the new standards, strengthen the detection of harmful chemical substances, reduce the content of harmful substances, and reduce trade risks.
