According to data released by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, nonwoven fabric production in April saw a significant year-over-year increase of 20.1%, reaching 27,071 tonnes. This marks the fourth consecutive month of double-digit growth in nonwoven production, highlighting a strong recovery in the sector. All manufacturing methods contributed to the rise, with wet-laid nonwovens experiencing a sharp surge of 32.5% and needle-punched nonwovens increasing by 25.8% to 6,417 tonnes.
Looking at the first four months of this year, total nonwoven output reached 104,127 tonnes, reflecting a 20.1% increase compared to the same period last year. The sustained growth underscores the resilience of Japan’s nonwoven industry, driven by rising demand across various sectors such as healthcare, packaging, and industrial applications. Analysts suggest that ongoing investments in production capacity and technological advancements are likely to support continued expansion in the coming months.
